80% of Business Success is in the Mind
Whether you can, or can’t is in the mind. This is not some loose talk spouted by motivational speakers. It’s the truth.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right!” ― Henry Ford
Our self talk is critical in business, and I believe that 80% of business success is in the mind. If we tell ourselves that we will have a successful business, it will happen. Why? Because you will have the enthusiasm to make it work. You will do the work. You will research. You will have a robust strategy, and your mind will be geared for success, so you will find a way to make it happen. We are also surrounded by universal forces that reinforce our intentions and our efforts, ensuring our success. However this is a subject for another time.
The same is true if you don’t believe in yourself or your business. It is virtually impossible to sell something that you don’t have faith in. When you believe in something it shows. Imagine walking into a high powered meeting with your shoulders slumped, a poor handshake, and speaking in a mono tone. Your words might be saying one thing, but your whole demeanour is communicating something else, which will lose you a deal. But enthusiasm and self belief is infectious. It radiates, and it inspires confidence.
I have sat with a number of leadership teams in businesses, and the first place that I start whenever I am called in to a business to resolve an issue is the mindset. I dissect the relationships in the organisations, I look at the language, the hierarchy structure and once those issues are addressed, only then do I delve into other areas.
When was the last time you took a look at your own self talk? What are you telling yourself about your business and about yourself? Is it positive? Is it negative? We all need to analyse our thoughts from time to time. Make the decision today to speak success into your business and into your life; and have confidence that things can improve in a heartbeat.
